Featured in Issue Ten of Sweet Magazine, stylists Once Upon A Table wanted to show how leading a healthy, organic and sustainable lifestyle can be incorporated into all important milestones, and how food that is good for you can also look and taste amazing. Often when people choose to follow this sort of lifestyle or have food intolerances, they miss out of have to eat something they otherwise wouldn’t. All of the desserts featured in the shoot were sugar, dairy, gluten and grain free, and incorporated healthy fruit and vegetables that the kids didn’t even notice!
Every ingredient was organise and locally sourced where possible. many parents are conscious about what their children are eating, and there are many hidden sugars and chemicals in the processed foods often found at parties. Instead of lolly bags, Once Upon A Table used favour buckets with confetti glower bombs made from paper with flower seeds, natural play dough, crayon rocks and more.
a feather touch
Part of what makes this party so pretty is the feather motif that is used on the food labels, dress ups and invitations. Feathers come in a myriad of shapes and sizes, and can be really inexpensive way to decorate your party, like the natural feathers tied to pots of chocolate mousse – find them below!
Not only are they super tasty and nutritious, berries are naturally beatiful! Fresh, ripe berries have the most brilliant and vibrant colour, and piled up in jars like the fruit jars below instantly add a little edible decoration to the party’s style. Fruit comes in all colours of the rainbow, use it to your advantage and show it off in clear individual containers on your tables, just remember to cut grapes into four pieces before including them in fruit and berry salads for children as they can be a choking hazard.
